THE TRIAL OF BOLO
STORY OF A BRITISH SNUBBING ATTEMPT TO INTRIGUE IN ENGLAND (Rec. February 11, 10.30 p.m.) Paris, February 10. At the trial of 8010 Pasha, AI. Bouchardon, for the prosecution, produced a remarkable series of Secret Service reports and coded telegrams showing that 8010 tried to extend bis intrigues to England. His purposo is not yet fully disclosed, but it was apparently either an attempt to influenco the Press or to effect a reconciliation between the British Government and Abbas Hilmi (tlip deposed Khedive), as 4 prevent a sequestration oTTiie Tatter's property. 8010 visited London in February of 1915, and attempted to malte overtures through a Mr. Robertson—not yot identified—who peremptorily rejected them. Herr.von Jagow 1 (the then German Foreign Minister) had just previously promised 8010 £50,000 per month for ten months for the purchase of Fronch newspapers to carry on a pacifist propaganda. The plain failed. It ig suggested that 8010 contemplated repeating it in Britain. The telegram he addressed to Signer Cavallini shows that Mr. Robertson snubbed him. —"The Times."
