ENGINEERS' ATTITUDE TO SIR AUCKLAND GEDDES. (Roc. February 10, 5.5 p.m.) London, February 8. Sir Auckland Geddes (Minister for National Service) attended a manpower conference at Westminster, at which the Amalgamated Society of Engineers refused to bo represented. Mr. J. A. Thomas, secretary of the Railway men's Society, suggested a soparato conference between the National Service Ministry and the Engineers' Society, but a very large majority of the conference rejected the proposal, and substituted therefor a proposal to invite the Amalgamated Society of Engineers to meet tlio representatives of all the unions at a conference not attended by any Government officials—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
