AN AUCKLAND CASE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, February 5. Afc the Supreme Court, in tlifi case of Arthur Hc-nry Burns, charged with bigamy, it was shown that accused married a Maori in 1912, but was.subsequently separated from her. Ho later met a European girl, whom ho married in November. 1917. saying that he believed that his first wife was dead, information to this effect having been given him by Maoris with whom she had been living. Accused gave evidence to the effect that'he had firmly believed that his first wife was dead. A verdict of guiitv was returned. The Judge ordered Burns to come, up for sentence when wiled upon ou the that he took steps to annul the first marriage and did the rirrht thing by marrying the girl to whom lie had done such grievous wrong. Burns also was ordered to pay £10 as costs of th<> prosecution. i
