A good class of horses are engaged in the Cup, and tho field Includes Chortle Ton Tero, Paraoa, and Wishful. . The Feilding Jockey Club will e ivo'£3Boo in stakes at the Easter Meeting, •to bo held oil April 1 and 2. The principal event will be the Feilding Cup, of 600 sovs, one mile and a quarter. The Poisodon gelding Ohoreka has changed hands, and is now owned in GUborne, where he is trained by A. JfLeod. Ohoreka was a failure when carrying Mr. W. Richmond's oolours, and only won two small hack races. The southern horseman, J. Oleen, has been engaged tp ride Miss do Val in the Duncdiu Cup. Tho local maro is well fancied for tho big event at Wingatui. A. Reed is going to tho Gisbome Meetniffi where ho will ride Lftdogeur.in the Cup and Jlyttus in the Flying Handicap R. Hatch was to havo the mount on tho pair, but he notified Mr. I/.'M'lCenzio that ho was urtable to do the weight. Tho New Zealand-bred Di fiama has changed hands again, and in future ho will race in Queensland. Bunting, winner of the Wellington and Brisbane Cups," has been nominated for the big handicap events at the Autumn Meeting of the Australian Jockey Club. Devotion and Probation, in charge of W. Telford, go south to-night, and will race at the Dunedin Cup Meeting. Step, who used to race in' Mr. G. Hunter's colours, and who has been a long 'time.in winning, scored in two cvonts at Tauinarunui on Saturday. The acceptance of Chortle in the Taranaki. Saturday. J. Oonquest 1b still conflnrd to the Auckland Hospital as a result of tho accident which bfefel him at l'akapuna. He sustained a badly, broken collarbone, and it will be some time before lie is able to ride again. The same romarks apply to Turner, who also'suffered a broken collarbone at. the meeting. The many friends of Mr. J..F. Hartland, secretary of "tho Auckland H&ciiig Club, will regret to .hear that ho is at preßcnt confined to a private hospital, and is rather seriously ill. At latest advices his condition was giving some anxiety, but it is to be hoped that he will soon bo cn tho road'to recovery. Quite recently o name appeared in the Forfeit List of a soldier who was killod on active service, but cn tho committee of the North Island Owners, Trainers, and Breeders' Association bringing tho matter before tho executivo of the New Zealand Racing Conference, the namo was at onco removed. -
