Tho Military Service Board to-day adjourned sine die its decision in connection witli the .appeal by the Wanganui Education Board against tho calling up of George Cooke, teacher at Beaconsfield. Mr. F. Pirani, chairman of the Education Board, said that tho board appealed owing to the shortage of teachers. He mentioned that seventy-two teachers had gone into camp from the Wanganui district out of a total of 191 male teachers. _ Of the remainder, 35 were over military age, 20 had been rejected, eight were under military age, and threcchad been accepted and were going _ into camp. There were no First Division men left the teachers in this district, except those medically nufifc, and only 55 married men were left out of nearly 200. There was not the' slightest chance of getting other teachers without robbing other districts. The board had the greatest difficulty in getting, teachers for country schools, and had closed a number of them, but could not close more.
