THE WAR CABINET
MR. MASSEY AND SIR JOSEPH WARD TO GO HOME EARLY SESSION IN APRIL An announcement was made by tho Prime Minister yesterday regarding the representation of New Zealand at the meeting of the Imperial War Cabinet. Air. Massey made the statement in the following terms: — "New Zealand is to bo represented at the meeting of the AVar Cabinet, and the representatives of Now Zealand will be the Prime Minister and Sir Joseph Ward, thoir selection to be subject to the approval of Parliament. A short session of Parliament will he held prior to their departure for England, and it is suggested that -his session will open on or about Tuesday, April 9, to mnk'o the necessary arrangements to enable the New Zealand representatives to go to nritain." As the conference is to be held in June, it will be necessary for the Now Zealand representatives to leave this country before tho end of April. This puts a very sharp limit to the duration of tlie short session that is to bo held. Parliament is tho final arbiter as to tho length of its own sessions, but in practice the Government can, and does, find ways of terminating sittings and sessions to fit in with its arrangements.
