Present indications are for strong southeast to north-cast..winds, weather unsettled and. squally, with heavy showers in the northernmost parts, and changeable, with scattered showers, elsewhere. The barometer is unsteady, with a fallins tendency. ' Atmospheric pressure increased consider, ably in the south durin? the night, but remains relatively low 'in the north High and squally easterly winds have ruled in tho northern districts, and stronir southeasterlies generally. Tho weather has improved to-day over the South Island, but cldudy allies have ruled and'rain has fallen in the north. ■ • I). C. BATES. Director. .
