CERTIFICATE OP PROFICIENCY COURSE MODIFIED. •The Senate of the University of New Zealand, having now approved of the new regulations for the certificate of proficiency, it is desirable that the effect of them should bo generally understood. A student will now be able to take in his own town the first two years of tlm course for the certificate of proficiency. Only the final two years will have to be taken at Dunedin. The matriculation examination has been made the entrance examination. Previously a pass in the medical preliminary examination was ijecessary.' The medical subjects have been reduced to a minimum, while the dental subjects have been kept up, so that for the actual practical purposes of dentistry the student will be turned out well equipped. Theso important changes should enablo many to enter dentistry who would otherwise be debarred.
