DENTISTRY AS A PROFESSION
The dental profession in the last teo decades has made such great progress scientifically that now it is one of the most interesting and useful pursuits a student can take up. The demand for dental treatment has increased_ enormously of late, and every indication points to a considerable increase. The demand is probably due to the following causes: (a) Tim general awakening of the public to the importance of a healthy mouth and the conservation of the natural teeth, (h) The fact that the. teeth of the soldiere needed _ so much attention. In this respect it is interesting to not* that the_ soldiers receive constant dontal attention from the time of enlistment until they aro discharged. Men -who never before cared about the state of their mouths appreciate this treatment and the wisdom of it. This alone must_ bo a great factor in educating the public, not only now, hut for generations to come, (c) The school medical inspectors have Ijcen so impressed with the condition of the mouths of the children of'th" primary schools that they are continually making representations both to the parents and to tho health authorities for the dental treatment of thoso children.
