MR W. PERRY'S ANNUAL SALE

The selling brokers, comprising the Wairarapa Farmers' Co-operative Association, Ltd., Dalgety and Co., Ltd., N.Z. Loan and Mercantile A : ;e!'cy Co., Ltd., "Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., and A. J. Cooper and Co, LW., report haviug conducted, the aw-ve sale, held at the Masterton showgrounds, as under.:— The total catalogue comprised JliO stud Romney rams of one-shear, vnth the exception of seven, 3.6 stud Lincoln rams, 70 one-shear Romuey ewes, and •55 one-sheaT Lincoln ewes. The attendance was very large and thoroughly representative of all breeders throughout tho Dominion, purchase:' being wade from Southland to Auckland. Business at auction can be described a3 animated throughout. A few sheep were passed under the hammer, but the number turned out unsold was comparatively a small lot. The predominating feature of the sale was the quality'of the sheep yarded, particularly the Romueys, and breeders were most complimentary in their remarks, several contending that a finer lot of sheep, had seldom been put together at ono sale previously in the Dominion. ' The first twenty of the shearling Romney rams put through the ring averaged the satisfactory figure of 153 guineas, and the 70 sold averaged exactly 80 guineas. The 69 shearling Romney ewes averaged 10i guineas, and a well-known authority stated that the result was probably a world's record for such a number of sheep from one individual breeder. Twenty-one of the Lincoln shearlings averaged oii guineas, and the 35 shearling Lincoln ewes averaged 8J guineas. The facilities of the pens and sale ring at the showgrounds could hardly have been improved upon. The principal sales were as under:—Two-shear Romney rams-110,125, and 126 guineas; shearling Romney rams: 290, 280, 250 200, 190, 160 (3), 150 145 130 2), 110 S{, 100 (2), 90 (2), 80 (3), 75 (2), 70 (3), 60 (6), 50 (5), 45 (7), and several ranging from 30 to 40 guineas; shearling Lincoln rams: 170, 120, 95,75, 65, 60, 50 and the balance 30 to 4o guineas; shearling Romney owes: 8 to l< guineas; 'shearling Lincoln ewes: 6 to K) guineas.
