MAN-POWER BILL
THROUGH COMMITTEE AFTER A LIVELY DEBATE OBJECTORS TACTFULLY HANDLED (Rec. January 23, 0.50 a.m.) London, January 22. The Map-Power Bill passed through the committee stago after a lively,debate, many members objecting to tho immense powers which the Bill vested in a single Minister. Tho representatives of agriculture were particularly critical, desiring agriculture to be v-ith-drawn from the purview of the Bill. Sir Auckland Geddes (Ministpr for National Service), _ in a sympathetic reply, met the objections, promising that any order under the Act should he subject to tho approval of both Housei.—Aus.-N.Z.
