CRICKET
WELLINGTON V. CANTERBURY. ! At tho Basin Reserve thjs afternoon at 1.30 the representative cricket match Wellington v. Canterbury will commence. The teams are as follow: —Canterbury—Reeco (captain), Booth, Gray, Howell, Allardyce, Read, _ Perlin, Thomas, Fuller, Hay, North. Wellington—Brice (captain), Wilson, Hiddlestone, Harris, Lambert, Bennett, Dind, Condliffe, Garrod, Baker, Burton. The Wellington team is exactly the same as the one which met Canterbury in Chrisichurch at New Year, when a draw resulted, Wellington having made a magnificent recovery in the second innings. The Canterbury team is strengthened by the inclusion of D Reese, probably the best known and the most successful of all New Zealand cricketers. The total proceeds of the match are to bo devoted to the Mayor's Patriotic Fund._ The Wellington Patriotic Society's Band (J.upp's) has consented to render a musical programme. Tho match vill be resumed on Monday, and concluded on Tuesday. BOYS' LEAGUE. I Matches set down for last Saturday will be played to-day.
