MASTERTON NOTES
Bacon is being retailed in Masterton at Is. 6d. per pound. The blight lias seriously affected a number of tho potato crops in the neighbourhood of Masterton. Evening (sports in connection with tho Wairarapa Amateur Athlotic Club were hold on Thursday. A 220 yds. handicap was won by J. Bradbury, a mile handicap by L. Kerr, and a 1-i milo bicycle handicap- by L; Oakley. Over thirty members of tho Masterton bowling club have intimated! their intention of participating in the progressive pairs tourney, on Anniversary Day. Tho price of nearly every class ot stock has shown a decline in the Wairarapa during the last few weeks. The harvesting of oats is about completed in the Masterton district, and the wheat crops are ready for cutting.
