. POLICE CASES. Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court yesterday, and dealt with tho-police-cases... ■ . Joseph Henry Pike, for whom Mr. H. F. O'Leary appeared, was charged with receiving the sum of £7 and failing to account for the same) to tho manager of the Royal Exchange Assurance Company, thereby committing theft. A relnand for a week was granted on the application of the police. Bail was allowed in £25,. and oiio surety of £25. A remand to January 23 was granted in tho case of William Aitken, who was charged that between August 10, 1917, and January 7, 191S, he did forge an official document signature to a soldier's paybook, with .intent that it should be acted upon as genuine. John Carrie, charged with indecent assault on a male, was further remanded for a week, and his bail was renewed. For insobriety William Francis King was fined 10s., in default 24 hours' imprisonment.
