The "Daily Chronicle" publishes a long article from Dublin emphasising tho fact that these are critical days for tho Irish Convention, and urging tho necessity for a.settlement on the basis of autonomy within tho Empire. '.'lt is now," states the writer, "only a. matter of tho safeguards for Ulster, which can be solved, given good wilt and good faith among the negotiators. Tho leading Unionists niroady say that if they could guarantee that the Irish Parliament would be a body like the Convention, we would have no hesitation in accepting it." _ ' Other newspapers publish similar articles, suggesting that tho negotiations, have reached an important stage, and pleading for the utmost effort to avoid a breakdown. "Tho delegates are not asked to find a perfect form of government, but a solution acceptable to all Irishmen."—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
