Acceptances for tho Foxton Meeting, to bo held on January 22, close to-morrow night. Trotting owners should bear in mind that acceptances for tho local meeting close to-raorrow night.

Handicaps for tho Pahiatua Meeting are due to-day and acceptances close on lionday next.

Tho Wellington Cup candidate Multiply has gono on the right way sinco his victory in tho A.R.C. Handicap, and he is expected to give a good showing at Trentham on Saturday. The recent rains will ussiat the old fellow, who will bo ridden by H. Gray. J. F. JoHord is expected to arrive at Trentham to-night with liis team for the Wellington Oup Meeting.

The Marton Jockey Club paid the Government a, chequo. for £1669 4s. 4d, for war taxes, imposed on its recent summer meeting,'made up as follow:—Totaliaator and revenue tax, £856 6s. 5d.; dividend tax, £751 95.; stakes tax, £18; amunoment tax, £43 Bs. lid.

As the.result of his Auckland successes Hvmestra has incurred the full penalty of 141b. in the Wellington Stakes, as also have Almoner, 80-Peep, and Demagogue. Though 30 horses still stand their' ground in the race, it is unlikely that more than half a dozen will see the post. Mr. T. E. Welch is continually adding to his racing team. Recently he purchased Manhattan, and the Maniapoto gelding is now a member of A. Quinlivan's Hastings team. A light rain was falling during training operations at Trentham on Saturday. Tho outside of the course proper and No. 1' trial grass tracks were open and afforded splendid going. ■ Seadown and Mascot ran a useful six furlongs, the watch registering lmin. 18sec, Over the same course the hacks Bluo Gown and Justification took a Becond longer. Mill Queen was much better than Whakatina over six furlongs in lmin. 18sec.

The handicap horses Menelaus and Johnny Walker ran a mile in lmin. 42sec. with the former going the better at 1 tho finish. This was easily the best gallop of the morning. , The Chokebore candidate Adjutant was beaten by . Dovotion over 'ten furlongs, which took Zmin. Usee. The laat mile was. run in lmin. >46sec., and the pair were carrying about the same weight.

Miss de Val held her own easily when opposed by Probation and The Golfer over seven 'furlongs. , The time was lmin. 29sec. ■; : '

On tho-course proper 80-Peep finished ahead of her stable companion Philomela, Risiugham, ami Association in a oout ct' four furlongs.

Adjutant has been galloping.well cn-tlic tracks of late and it is expected that he will be tho solo representative of tho Chokebore stables in the. Wellington Cup. His companion, the three-ycar-'old Ganiccock, is. hot doing much work, but in tho sprinting ho is kept at ho is doing well. It looks as if his trainer has an idea of racing him in the sprint event here, and it must bo admitted that if tie came lack to his two-year-old form he would be vciy hard to beat -with. only, a feather-weight on his back.

All iB not well with Bonny Maid and Mr. P. Soames's niaro is regarded as an unlikely starter on Saturday. J. H. Prosser, with a team rf eight horses, reached Trentham on Saturday.

During tho past fortnight there has been sevon days' racing on the West Coast distributed between the Reefton, Greymouth, and Weslland Clubs. Of the horscß that sported silk at tile gatherings Kiltess and Merton did best with five wins apiece, while Rosevcar appropriated four. A trio of successes rewarded the efforts of Red Book, Trentham Rose, and Divorce, and dual wins came the way of Gallupin, Bradamaule, Samisen, Amity, Xanthos, Jeannot, and Kiljoy.
