NEW RULES PROMULGATED. The following particulars received by His Excellency the Governor-General are published for general information and in particular for the guidance of holders in .New Zealand of any of the distinctions mentioned. Bv the Kinz's commandsHhe Badge of the Third Class, or Companions, ot the Orders of the Bath, the Star of India, Saint Michael and Saint George and the Indian Empire will in future bo worn suspended on n. ribbon round the neck. Members of this class #or these four orders will, white retaining the title of Companion, he given precedence as Commanders, according to the .seniority of the order. The -effect of this decision is to place the rank of Commander of the Royal A ictorian Order lower than that of the Companionship ill question. The cost of the alterations necessitated by the new rule, under which .the badge of this class 'of these fdur ordo.rs is to he worn suspended on a ribbon round the neck, will be met free ■ ot charge to the following extent:—C.B., 12. 6d.; C.5.1., 75.; C.M.G., 12s. Gd.; C.1.E., £1 ss. The Registrar and Secretary of tlie Central Chancery of the Orders of Knighthood. Lord Chamberlain's Office, St James's Palace, London, is prepared to receive bills from jewellers up to tr.c above amounts for alterations they have made.' These hills must bear the signed authority of the member of tho order for whom the alteration has been made. The new riband to he worn will be ct the breadth prescribed by the existing statutes of the order (one inch and a half). , The Knight Commander of an order' who is also a Companion of a senior order will, of course, treat the badge of the order of which he is a Knight Commander-as senior for all purposes. A Companion or Commander of more than one of the orders affected will wear the badge of the senior order just below the collar of the'tunic or uniform coat, the other "badges being worn one below the other, suspended on riband which emerges from between the buttons of the coat. With evening dress the badge of the senior order "will Tie worn under the white tie, the others, in miniature, on lapel of the coat. When a Companion is in service dress the riband of the order will be worn on the left breast as heretofore.
