were safely disembarked. The vessel sank in seventv-five minutes. Within
two hours all her people had been picked up. A member of the crew states: •''Wβ had just entered the Bristol Channel after a had voyage, when suddenly there was a terrific bang. The members of the crew were thrown out of their bunks, and the concussion extinguished the lights. There was no time to save personal belongings. Magnificent order prevailed. We had 250 wounded on board. These were put first into the boats, then the nurses followed, and then the passengers and crew. The weather was not cold. A tank steamer ant} a patrol boat took us to Swanseu. We did not suffer much discomfort."— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
