LORD READING APPOINTED AMBASSADOR AT WASHINGTON. (Rec. January 8, 8.40. p.m.) London, January 7. Official. —Lord Reading been appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary on a special mission to Washington.—Aus.-N.Z. Cablo Assn. LORD READING WILL HAVE PULL CONTROL OF BRITISH MISSIONS. (Rec. January 9, 0.5 a.m.) London, January 7. An official announcement explains that Sir Cecil Spring Rice is on leave. Lord Reading has been appointed High Commissioner in the character of an Ambassador Extraordinary and plenipotentiary on a special mission. Lord Reading as High Commissioner and Special Ambassador will bave full authority and control over all British missions sent to the United States in connection with tho activo prosecution of the war. Lord Northcliffe will lemain in London as chairman at London headquarters of the British War Mission to the United States.—Aus.-N.Z, Cablo Assn.
