DROWNING ACCIDENTS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Eltham, January 7. The body of a well-known resident, Mr. J. 13. Sim, was found this morning in the Waingongora River. Tho body had underpants on, and the remainder of the clothes were hanging in a shed close by. The body was lying face downwards in only .nine inches ofwater. It is surmised that deceased had a lit. An inquest will be held. De-ceased-was well known in Christchurch, and at one time was Mayor-of Sydenham. He had been for some timo m Eltham, and until recently was secretary of the Eltham branch of the farmers' Union. He leaves a wife and grown-up family. A son is in tho Imperial Army.
