SHIPPERS IN PROTEST,

Shippers of flax and other produce not purchased by. the Imperial Supplies Department, are protesting strongly against- tho big' increase in shipping freights announced a few days ago. The complaint that contracts were made on the basis-of the old rates and that they should ha re been given some reasonable notico of increases that amount in some instances to nearly 100 per cent. '..., Tho'Prime Minister has received many communications on the subject. Ho stated yesterdnv that he had cabled to the Imperial authorities nskinc that the increased rates should not apply to commodities which'were in store awaiting shipment on December 31, the day before the new rates came into operation. He had not yet received any reply.
