THE MAYOR'S APPEAL. ; The following appeal to' citizens is issued, by the Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke): In accordance with the request of .His Majesty the King, that all peoples of the British Empire should observe tomorrow, January 6, as a special day of prayer and thanksgiving, I respectfully invite-, all'members of the- community to attend diviuo service in their respective churches and places of worship to render grateful thanks to 'Almighty God ior the great toessmgs we have received as an Empire, especially during the recent years of cur i.ation's peril, while our brave soldiers and sailors have been fighting an unscrupulous and ruthless enemy to maintain the principles of justice mid freedom for all. mankind, and to svpplicatei Divine aid to pursue ■ the war-to a successful arid righteous. concliiiion.
