Lieutenant Gerald Lyon, who has been awarded a Military Cross—his name was included in the New Year Honours list—is the eldest son of the late Mr. William Deans Lyon, and well known in Wellington. He is an Old Boy of tho Wellington College, and left with the Artillery Division of the Main Body in October, 1914., He served throughout Gallipoli, 'and earned his commission on tho field. During tho last two years ho has been in France, and is extremely popular with all. While in Wellington ho was a member of tho D Battery, and was employed at the National Mutual Life Office. At tho time of his enlistment he was in tho office of the New Zealand Flax : milling Company at Foxtxon. Lieutenant Lyon has two brothers, also serving in France—Ronald (lato secretary of the Wellington Savage Club) and Eric (of tho firm of Lyon, Franks; and Hunter, solicitors, Christchurch).
