GROWING IMPORTANCE OF THE WAR SPEECH BY THE EMPEROR Tokio, December 28. _ Tho Emperor of Japan, in a speech from the throne, said: "The European war is becoming more important. It behoves us to deroto our efforts to more effective co-operation with the Allies. We expect the Alliance to secure victory and to obtain the objects with which wo heartily sympathise. We aro prepared to co-operate to the fullest exteut. while maintaining peace in the Orient."—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
