TO BATHERS AND BEACHERS. The Baths and Beaches Committes of tho City Council has proposed tho following points which should bo observed by bathers on the public beaches during the holiday season: — It is inadvisablo for swimmers to proceed further seawards than 100 yards from the' shore. A city by-law exists prohibiting. No person when in the water should behave in such a manner as to cause those who are concerned in tile safety of bathers to believe that he is drowning or in difficulties. Such actions aro likely to result in carelessness on the part, of those, who voluntarily undertake such duties. . The public are warned against throwing bottles, crockery, tins, or any such material on the public beaches. A number of accidents arc caused through carelessness in this respect. Any person offending may be prosecuted. Persons using the public beaches for bathing should take caro not to. offend against the provisions of tho city bylaws regarding tho control of such plates, especially as regards clothing and general behaviour. For the benefit of picnickers hot water will be available at Lyall Bay beach during the holidays between Christmas and New Yeai, at a nominal charge.
