THE RECAPTURE OF THE GERMAN ESCAPEES
The Government and the Naval authorities are to be congratulated on the success which has attended their efforts to recapture tlie German naval prisoners who escaped from Motuihi Island. Under the censorship we are not permitted to publish details of the measures taken for the* recapture of the es : caped men, but we can give assurance 'that they were both prompt and thorough; and that admirable judgment was displayed is evidenced by the circumstances under which tho escapees were retaken. The possibilities of a serious menace to snipping in this'quarter of the Pacific have thus been removed. "We may hope that with this experience to warn us there will bo no loophole left for any future enterprise of a similar nature on the part of interned aliens or..prisoners of war' under charge of the authorities in New Zealand. ~i. ;
