MB. BALFOUR'S TRIBUTE TO PRESIDENT WILSON THE PEACE WE SEEK (Rec. December 21, 0.20 a.m.) London, December 19. A debate on the Allies' war aims arose in the House of Commons upon the third reading of the Consolidated Fund Bill. Mr. A. J. Balfour (Foreign Minister) said that he considered that the statements regarding the war policy which had been made ty President Wilson and tho various 'eaders of opinion in Britain wero absolutely identical in spirit. He believed that m the whole of tho world's history there wero no moro powerful State documents than tlioso of President Wilson's. Both Mr. Asquith arid Mr. Lloyd Georo;© had stated our policy on tho broadest lines, in the most erplicit terms, and in the clearest manner. Our aims were not Relfish. Wo were seeking a peace which would last, umlor whose shelter small find great nations might develop according to their own national ideas.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
