A RECORD POLL
UNIONIST VICTORY CERTAIN
Ottawa; December 17. There ia a record poll for the general elections, and intense interest is being taken in them. Sir Robert Bordon has received from Mr. W. M. Hughes, Prime Minister of Australia, a message expressing the hope that the Union Government will be triumphantly returned in order that Canada may.put forth her full strength in' the mighty straggle between liberty and despotism. _, Eighteen Liberals and eleven Unionists nave been elected unopposed out of a total House membership of 235. Tho Halifax and Yukon elections are delayed. Tho final results will not be known until the votes of the soldiers at the front are received. Major-General S. C. Mowbum, Minister of Militia and Defence, and Sir Wilfrid Laurier (Leader of tie Opposition) have been elected. A Unionist victory is certain.—Aus.N.Z. Cablo Assn. CONSCJJTM WINS (Rec.
