GERMAN PEACE AIMS
RUMOUR OF IMPENDING STATEMENT (Rec. December 18, 8.50 p.m.) Amsterdam, December 17. In Berlin political circles are excited over a report that Germany is about to state her peace aims. It is ■understood that she will chiefly declare her political disinterestedness in Belgium, with ample damages in exchange for the return of the German colonies. The question of Alsace-Lorraine is not mentioned. It is believed that Germany will inform England, France, Italy, and the United States of her aims through neutral diplomats, under Becrecy.—Aus.-N.Z.
