REAL PROGRESS HADE , STATEMENT BY FRENCH MINISTER Paris, December 16. The Minister for Marino (M. Georges Lejgues), in an interview, declared that real progress had been mnde in the fight against the submarines. France had now a number of special light draught submarine chasers. 5000 NORWEGMjiAILORS LOST Chrlstiania, December 16. Official.—Norway has lost nearly 5000 sailors during tho war.—Aub.N.Z. Cable Assn. DANISH STEAMER TORPEDOED. (Rec. December 17, 7.55 p.m.) Copenhagen, December 16. The Danish steamer Peter Willomoes was torpedoed in the North Sea. Eighteen were rescued. Two wero killed. —Aus.-N.Z. Cablo Assn.
