Hughes's manifesto to tho Australian soldiers has been published throughout the Dominion, lb is welcomed by the Conscriptionist Press as a powerful factor in clearing away tho misapprehonsiou created by tho contentious of anti-conscriptionista that Australians ablo to dispenso with conscription in maintaining her forces at the front. The newspapers point out that Sir Wilfrid Lauricr is quoting Australia's voluntaryism. He alloges that Canadawould bo able to do tho same, given proper leadership. •Mr. • Hughes's demonstration of. the failure of voluntaryism in Australia is thus reinforcing the efforts of the Canadian conscriptionists.— Cable Assn.
DEMONSTRATION IN SYDNEY. Sydney, December 15. Last night there was a bioj procession of returned soldiers ana sailors, followed by a monster demonstration in Martin Place, attended by relatives and friends, in favour of "Yes." The speakers on tho several platforms were received with much enthusiasm. Tho women supporters of both sides aro taking a prominent part in the referendum campaign.—Press Assn. AN ANTI-CONSCRIPTION PROCESSION BROKEN UP. (Dec. December 16, 5.5 p.m.) Melbourne, December 16. . Returned soldiers broke up an anticonscriptiou procession in the city.
