Iu the course of the evidence statements were mado regarding increased expenses duo to the-war, and also as to tlio effect of 0 o'clock closing. One hotelkeepcr (aid liis business had been decreased by JJ per cent, in the first week of Dec miner ; and the general reduction in tlio business of Warner's Hotel was reported to be 34 per cent The estimate for eighteen leading hotels iu Wiristr church and suburbs for the for mgh of this month shows that the bale ot aerated waters had decreased bj db per cent., compared wth the same period of last year.
