MASTERTON, Timhor £ Botiot Ifprfllilflft IK! ft MSlEiiiiib iTOUioiiid * C. E. Danlell A. H. Danlell * .With, a record of thirty-seven years' growth, keeping steps with the demands and requirements of the com-' munity, this business holds a somewhat unique position. Following some years of English business experience, Mr. Daniell in 1880 arrived in Masterton. Trade depression was pronounced, and it took several years to secure the foundation on which the present extensive concern is built. Beginning first as a builder, a hardware store followed, and later sawmilling and timber yards. The whole has now for more than a quarter of a century held a strong position in the confidence of the enterprising Wairarapa people The hardware store and offices in Queen Street, with Mr. I. W. Temple as a sort of chief of staff to the junior proprietor, Mr. A. H. Daniell, the "live wire" of the concern of to-day, a'n,cl things go with evident hum—as Americans would say. Building and building supplies are still the dominating features of the business. The services of the concern being sought for advice as to "how to do it," with the same confidence as is the work placed. Thus the staff starts with the architectural draughts- ■ man, who formulates (he scheme pf works, while a large stal of carpenters, plumbers, painters, cement, and timber workers contribute their part, all on the regular staff and under the immediate direction of the principals. In this way the bulk of the work'done by the firm is carried out. The handsome Solway Girls' College now being built is a case in point, as well as many fine residences in. and around Masterton. The firm has quite a reputation for successful domestic and farm water supply schemes, while the "gospel of the main drain," as applied to homes and health. Masterton' owes a good deal to the applied interest both' members of the firm take in the. question; Continued happy relations between employer and employed has through many years characterised the business, which perhaps helps to explain its success. f LEVIN & Co., Ltd General Utretats, Ml Stition fipts WELLINGTON FEILDING NELSON . , WANGANUI BLENHEIM FOXTON MASTERTON ■ Our STOCK AOENCY Department Is under th« charge of MR.
