INDIA. 'AND AMERICA SUGGESTED AS SOURCES OF SUPPLY.
In, September last the Hon.' Arthur Myers, Minister-in-Charge of Munitions and Supplies, anuounced he had been advised that the export of linseed oil from the United Kingdom had mean-, time been absolutely prohibited owing to the delnand for supplies on tho Home market.' ' The Minister also signified that the High Commissioner was making efforts in the hope of securing a small quantity for essential purposes. 3y, ivhen a representative of this paper yesterday approached the Minister in regard to this matter lie was informed that the High Commissioner had re-, cently advised he was at the moihent unable to secure the releiise of any' quantity for export from the Kingdom.', As far as the High Commissioner can judge, the situation, in regard to supplies of .linseed oil is hot likely to improve in the United Kingdom, and therefore the suggestion is made that possibly New Zealand merchants niajr securo supplies from'lndia or America, where it is believed stocks iray' lje held! This being the position, Mr. Myers remarked that in tho event of merchants in- tho Dominion making purchases from either of these countries, he would, as Minister-in-Chargo . of Munitions and Supplies, be pleased to .assist as far as possible in obtaining .ielease aiid shipment if necessary,.-
