Afresh round , of tlio Wellington .'Senior cricket championship contest was begun on Saturday. Tho feature of the play on the Basin Reserve was the excellent cricket of the Trcntham eleven. They brought in a strong hatting sido and against East mado 244. Sneddon and Crawford batted beautifully, and but for rashness Crawford ought to, have made a century. This pair also bowled excellently, particularly Crawford, and the East sido has lost nino wickets for 101.:■■' However, it is no disgrace 'for the Easterners to have gone out to the bowling Crawford was sending along.
