MAGISTRATE'S COURT
POLICE AND BY-LAW CASES.
Mr. M'Oarthy, S.M., presided in the Magistrate's Court, yesterday. - Patrick Ruddy, charged with drunkenness, was remanded for a. week to be medically treated. James Blair .Campbell, an old man, who appeared on a- charge of being idle and disorderly, agreed to go to the Ohiro Home. F. A. C. Kingan was fined £2 for breach of a prohibition order. Briscoß and Co. were fined £1 on each, of two charges of failing to duly stamp a receipt. William Honry Cowley, the owner of a dog which attacked Henry M. Underwood, was ordered to pay 15s. costs. Fines for breaches of the motor bylaws were entered as follow:—Harold Brown, £5; Hugh M'Laren, £7; F. S. Handley, £5; Claude Adams, £1; Benjamin, £2; E. C. Brasch, £2; W. J. Blandford, £2; William Calnan, £2; Dougall Ferguson, £2; D. E. Francis, £2; L. Godkin, £2; G. B. Holmes, £2; L. Jones, £2; T. P, Murphy, £2; H. Nattrass, £2; J. Proctor, £2; E. J. Solomon, £2; William Sendall, £2; L Traill, £2: Alexander Waterhouse, £2; W. Wolland, £2. , William-Joseph, Collins, Violet.Duffy, and Walter Ronald Gates were each fined £1 for Sunday trading in shops. Charges of Sunday trading were made against the Marble Bar, Ltd., and decision was reserved. It was contended that if these bars were closed every restaurant should be closed. Patrick Cavanagh was fined £3 for erecting a building without a permit. He was also proceeded against for laying a drain without permission, pnd was given till January 1 to have the work carried out properly. He is to pay 10s. per day for. every day after January 1 that the work remains uncompleted. .
