TORPEDOED BETWEEN HOME PORTS
THE LOSS OF THE FOODSHIPS. (Rec. December 5, 5.5 p.m.) London, December 4. In the House of Lords, Lord Lytton (for the Admiralty) explained that the foodship that was sunk while preceding from ono port to another was thn La Blanca. An effort waß being mado to enable cargoes of foodstuffs to bo discharged at tho first port of call. Arrangements for unloading at the port in question—excluding that for cold storage—were nearly completed.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. [It was stated in a cablegram yesterday, oil tho authorty of the "Daily Express," that ii vessel containing twenty thousand tons of meat had reached a British harbour, but the cargo could not be handled, and site was torpedoed and sunk while proceeding to another port. Another vessel with a great quantity of meat and other goods on board was similarly sent to another port, and was torpedoed and lost.]
