The unsatisfactory position of North Canterbury millers has been relieved somewhat by the promise of a cargo of wheat for Lyttelton about the end (jf December. In the meantime the largest mill in Christchurch in practically out of a stock of wheat. There is nothing doing in the' grain or produce market. Business could still be done with the North Island in oatsheaf chaff, but for tho shortage of shipping space. Tho potato market is practically over for the season. The abundant growth of grass in Canterbury should result in a larger rye-grass Beed crop than for some years past. The cocksfoot crop also should be better.
The attention' of cattle buyers is drawn to the Eketahuna cattle fair advertisement, wlwrein several changes have been made. The fifty-four-year Shorthorn bullocks and the forty threeyear Shorthorn bullocks have been withdrawn, while several new lines have been added, the total now being 720 head, the majority of which are well'bred and in good condition. The sale, whicli is being held by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., will start at 12 noon.
As the result of the continued fine weather wool is coming into Auckland from the country districts very rapidly, and the Government graders are busily engaged in grading and valuing it as it comes to band. "Up to the end of last week some 8500 bales had been valued in Auckland, and it is anticipated tbat this quantity will be added to by between 3000 and 4000 this week.
