BALLOT APPEALS
YESTERDAY'S SITTINGS OF THE BOARD.
Tho Third Wellington Military Service Board sat yesterday. The members of the board are Messrs. D. M. Findlay, A. O'L. Considine, and M. J. Mack. Captain P. Baldwin is the military representative. Tho following cases were dismissed: —Edward R. Newman, permanent fire brigadesman, Wellington; Basil F. Collier, department manager, Hatai-, tai: Edward J. Flux, plumber, Petone; Richard T. Alexander, farrier, Wellington: Francis C.I Ayson, law clerk, Lower Hutt; Leslie M. Clancy, meat canner, Wellington; Walter Cooley, labourer, Lower Hutt; Sydney H. B. Gooscman, musician, Lyall Bay; Thomas E. Hale, motor driver, Karori Road; Archibald H. Humphries, fisherman. Island Bay. The following appeals also wero dismissed, and leave till March was granted :—James G.. Fleming, mechanical engineer, Gbuznee Street; Oliver F. Angell, storekeeper, Johnsonville; Thomas F BaiTey, carpenter and contractor, Karori; William A. Baillie, driver, Yale Street: Bertie R. B. Burdon, farmer, Wainui-o-mata; Sidney Constable, shipping clerk, Martin Street; William J. Grondin, tinsmith, Petone; Edward Hartley, joiner, Petone. The case of James L. Gilmour, farmer, Taita, was dismissed, and leave till April was granted. The following cases were adjourned sino die.—H. W. Glynn, prison warder, New Plymouth; G. T. Guy, warder, Panama; Thomas Crealy, warder, Waimarino; Andrew Harper, warder, Invercargill; James C. Kerin, warder, Auckland; John Milne, warder, Invercargill; Albert T. G. Taylor, warder, To Awamutu; F. E. Kelly, solicitor, Public Trust Office, Wellington; Harold E. Schmidt, marine officer, Oriental Terrace; R. W. Huyton, ship's .carpenter ; Vivian C. C. wireless telegraphist; F. A. Cook, wireless telegraphist; E. C. Breach, engineer, Scarborough Terrace. The board had no recommendation to make in regard to applications by several soldiers. Three months' leave was granted to Private K. C. Bolton, Thirty-second Reinforcements, Trentham. The case of L. D. Hanratty, book■binder, whose mother appealed, was adjourned till March. The following appeals were allowed: —E: D. Johnson, steward; J. A. Tinnock, postal cadet (under age); R. F. M. Atkinson, actor. The case of H. W. Corbutt, taxidriver, Maarama Crescent, was adjourned for a week for further evi-
dence. The board adjourned till 10 a.m. today.
