Marcbant, ofl_2ia Tinakori Road, Wellington, joined the Samoan Advance Force on August 8, 1914, served with the body until its return to New Zealand, that he left the Dominion for England on May 29,1915, and on arrival'there was given a commission in the Royal Irish Fusiliers, was seriously wounded on September 6, 1916, in the Battle of tho Sommo, and is at the present time attaohed to 8 battalion of the Royal Irish Rifles as ■ musketry instructor. The Statistician also ascertained' tha( Robert, J. 0. Seal, of 90 Taranaki '• ' Street, Wellington, is identical witb Robert Sealo, who left with the Main Body, Auckland Infantry, and has since returned to New Zealand and been discharged from the Forces as medically unfit. ■ -: Harold Keith Corkill, whose name appears in the ballot, left New Zeafc land in November, 1916, being then under 19 yearß of age. After passing f the first professional examination at Edinburgh University, he joined the British Army and is now a second lieutenant in the Field Artillery and stationed in Ireland. '26/10/17, 10 a.m.—Received telegram to report for another niedical examination. . i 26/10/17, 11 a.m.—Reported for medical examination. ■ V 30/10/17, 9.45 a.m.—Again medically examined, and was advised I would hear again in due course. ,24/11/17.—Having heard nothing fur- . ther, made induiries, and was informed I should undergo another medical examination at 1.45 p.m. on November 245. 26/11/17, 1.45 p.m.—Reported for medical examination and was informed there was no need for such. I requested that I be informed of the result of the two previous examinations, and was told I would hear again in due course. 2/12/17.—Called in ballot and name, not even starred. Made inquiries as to the reason, and was informed I would have to undergo still another medical examination on December 5. , 1 might mention that I snecially - visited Australia fifteen months'. ago to enlist, and was informed within ten minutes that I was unfit.—l am. etc., It.
