CITY AFFAIRS

WELLINGTON CITY COUNCIL. The 'Wellington City Council met last evening. There were present: Th 6 Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke), Councillors J. E. Fitzgerald, W. T. Hildreth, R, A. Wright, L. M'Kenzie, M. L. Luckie, A. Veitcli, A. R. Atkinson, W. H. Bennett, G. Frost, TV. H. P. Barber, J. Castlo, W. J. Tliompson, J. O. Shprland, and C. B. Norwood. Leave of absence was granted Councillor J. Godber. It was resolved: "That an applicatiun for permission to place on the footpath at the junction of Lambton Quay with the southern end of Stout Street, an installation for the supply petrol for motor vehicles on the Bowser system, be granted, subject to such conditions as'the City Engineer may impose as to the method of construction, and the position of tho loading pipe, and also subject, to tins consent being revocable at any time, should tnt council so desire. The council consented to the construction of a right-of-way at Wariporj Street, subject to the conditions used bv the City Engineer. ' Permission was granted for the erection of a concrete wall to' enclose a portion of the unformed road reservation at Hohiria Road, Hataitai. An application from a- property owner to enclose a portion of the unformed road reservation at Hinau Road, Hataitai, was not entertained. Permission'was granted to sppe'tv owner at Hadf.eld Terrace Kelburn to erect a reinforced concrete wall in front of his section, and enclose a portion of the unformed road rfrve. On tho, recommendation of tlin inance Committee it was resolved that the council resolve to proceed with the taking of certain land at Upland Bt m\ required for road purposes notwittstanding the objection rawed by the owner. That <x temporary water supply extension be provided to a portion Park Estate, .as recoinmetided; that the sewer in Morton Street be extended on the Town Belt to a point to enable the drain.jg e system of thp Levin Memorial Home to be improved.
