BALLOT ON WORKING HOURS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christcliurch, November 29. The Lyttelton Waterside Workers' Union took a ballot to-day on the question of the working of cargo on vessels from 7 a.m. until 9.30 p.m., instead of the present hours, which are «8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tho proposal to work only oversea vessels during the extended period was carried by a substantial majority. Two other proposals submitted to the ballot were lost. One was that the men agree to work all ocean-going and intercolonial vessols from 7 a.m. to 9.30 p.m. when _ required, and the other that all ships bo worked during tho same period as required.
