THE CYRIL MAUDE SEASON
Public interest lias been keenly excited over tho coming season of Mr. Cyril Maude, which is to open at the Grand Opera House on Tuesday, when Mr. Maude will appear in his famous impersonation of "Grumpy." Thie is the study of a brilliant intellect tottering to senility, but spurred , for a time to its previous acuteness by the old instinct of a life-interest. Andrew Bullivant was the most brilliant King's Counsel of hia day—a famous criminal lawyer, before he grow old, irascible and petulant. Through these attributes he ia named "Grumpy" by hie beautiful granddaughter. When a crime ia commit-
ted in his own house, and his nephew nearly done to death, h's old powers of deduction and judgment return, and the excitement gives him tho requisite physical strength to find and follow the one trivial detail that proves the leading clue. A highly interesting plot, with a touch of the sensational as tho olimai, shows how tho keen wits of tho ootogonarian lawyer onable him to play the trump card at the last, recover the stolen diamond and laud the arch criminal in gaol. Supporting Mr. Maude is eaid to lie a company of more thau ordinary merit. The eager manner in which tho public inquired for and reeerved seats at the Bristol yesterday portends an unusually heavy advance booking.
