MAGISTRATE'S COURT

A BIG POLICE LIST. Mr. S. E. M'Garthy, S.M., held a sitting, of the Magistrate's Court yesterday. Henry Marsh was sent to prison for three months on a charge of tendering a false cheque to Ellen Budd at Masterton. Frederick W. G, Rodgers was lined £5,' in default cne month's imprisonmont, for having used obscene language. On charges of failure to observe tlio motoring by-laws the following were fined (mostly £2 and costs):— Percy Miles, Robert H. Newbold, David' L. O'Donnell, Edn-ard G. Pinney, Bert Power, Harold G. Potts, Leelie Standen, Herbert Simmonds, John Snellgrove, Reginald John T, Thomson, Frank Hugn Williams, 0. H. Chapman, G. F. W. Anson, Douglas Bray, Frederick Colvin, A. J. Fortune, Thomas Fern, A. L. France, H. "W. Carbutt, H. L. Griffiths, Bertram Greeks, Cyril Halda.no, William Matthews (fined 10s.), W. Spencer Bedford (fined £5), and Alexander Alexander (fined £5). For failure to attend drill Ronald Gray wa§ ordered to pay 7s. costs, and W. J. G. Brown was fined £2, in default twenty-one days' military detention. Frederick Watson was fined £5 and costs for having assaulted Edwin Saddler. A. ,L. U. Smith was fined £2 on an allegation of having, charge of a building in.,the course of erection and permitting a lift not fitted with an approved automatic catoh to be used. Robert A. Eccles was ordered to pay 15s. towards the support of his wife. Frank Thomas Moore was charged with having permitted a motor bus to be used on Jackson Street without a licence from the Petone Borough Council. The case was adjourned sine die, to be called on at any time on either side giving the other seven "days' notice. ,
