The two "Sports Days ■•' next week—Friday, November 30 (bt>< Andrew's Day), and Saturday, promisa brilliant spectacular displays., Everybody will have the opportunity of £ bargain for the larder in the street stalls on Friday; also a chance of winning a section of land (Government valuation £24C). The total value of .the prizes, which are very varied, runs into hundreds of pounds. Many girls will be brightly arrayed for-the fancy-dress and poster procee* sion and pageant on Saturday afternoon. Britannia will bo attended by, the Dominions and the Allies, with flags of tho 'civilised Entente nations, and dresses to match. Nurse Everitt t; who is organising this part of the pa-, geant, predicts a spectacle to pleasa the public thoroughly. There will be a roar of war at the Basin Reserve. Explosions of mines and hand-grenades will give an impressivo reminder of tho every-day and allday conditions at the front—a remin-i der which should help the Citizens' Gift Fund for the comfort and gladness of Wellincton's soldiers. Wellington folk have been thrilled by pipers, but for next Friday they are promised such skirls and swirls oC music ae will ease the saddest heart and stir the most sluacish mind.
