FIRES
THREE OUTBREAKS YESTERDAY*
The fire brigade received threo calli yesterday. The first was at 11.80 a.m.,, when its services were required at thot Windsor Manufacturing Co.'s premises, in Quinn Street. Fire had caught the. peel-curing portion of tho works, audl the contents were badly damaged. Insurances were as follow:, With _ the? London, Liverpool, and Globe, with the London, Lancashire, £251)0;, with the Koyal Exchange, £4000; with* the Guardian, £1400.
The second summons was to at fire which ooourred in the even* 'ing at a fourteon-roonied house, in Murphy Street. The occupant wasMr. George Clareburt, and the owneri Mrs. Stevens. The outbreak originated in the eitting-room, where sparks from the fireplace ignited a carpet, lhet damage done was only trifling., A further call was received at 11.* p.m. to the residence of Captain A. Vw H. Munro, 106 Hataitai Road, when* a fire had broken out in the wasln house, the Hataitai Volunteer Fire Brigade, which was formed-nearly twoi yeare ago, was on the scene before the city brigade arrived, and did very effective work at this, its first call since the formation of the brigade. The washhouse was gutted and the rear portron of the i«siaencG also suffered. The house TO6 insured in the Standard Office for £1100 and the contents in. the same office for £600.
