SECOND DIVISION LEAGUE
• MEETING OF FEA.THEESTON . BRANCH. A largely-attended ineoting of the Feathereton Branch of the Second Divison League was held on Monday night, Mr. F. \V. Smith presiding, in tho absenoe of the president (Mr. J. V>. Card, Mayor of Featherston). There was a long discussion on correspondence from the Central Executive, especially relativoto the following: "'Will you please call your members together and discuss matter contained in the booklet being issued to reservists ns drawn in the ballot, and decide on tho future activity "of your league ? We must take upon ourselves the duty of safeguarding the interests of all soldiers and dependante, and prepare for a further sion of proposals for incr/eased separation allowances next session of Parliament." The following resolutions were carried; —Moved by Mr. J. H. Fieldhouse, and seconded by Mr. C. .T. Carlyon: "That tho Second Division Leaguo invite ra 6ervißte drawn in the ballot to declare to the executivo thoir financial position, in order that a representative of the league may act on behalf of applicant; (or their dopendants) before tho Financial Assistance Board." '.'This branch urge; upon tho Control Executivo the necessity, as a preparation for further reference to Parliament, for our claims being put before tho whole of tho public ol New Zealand by capable speakers, s< that tho justice of same may be established, delay being inadvisable owing tc members of Parliament _ having their, time so fully occupied during tho eessioi that they cannot give full attpntion to league claims, and likely to ho by political compacts unless they ars compelled l>y a publicity campaign to de clare themselves before Parliamenl meets."
