The Board of Directors of tho Australasian Temperance and General Mutual Life Assurance Society, ia their report for the year ended September 30, state' that the policies issued numbered 10,01(1. assuring £1,442,434, in the ordinary department, and 76,141. assuring £2,058,927., in tho industrial department. The premium income had increased by £88,687, maiiDE the total income £771,529. The funds had inoreased to £2,636,528. Gratification Iβ expressed at tho faot that the progress had been made at a moderate rato of expense. The payments to oolioyholders, or their representatives, had reached the larec sum of £276,207, an increase of £66,000 on the fieures of the previous year. Durins tho year 822 olaime were paid on tho Uvea of members of tho society who had volunteered for service at the front. The assets included lareo sums invested in war loans. The Item, society's freehold propertiea.had been inoreasod by the purchase of suitable premises for tho conduot of the society's business In Hobart and Launceston. The interest return on the mean funds for the year was £* 17s. 6d. per cent.
