GIRL CLERIC ATTACKED IN OFFICE.

A peculiar assault has been reported, This afternoon at two o'clock a young girl clerk in a local commission agent 3 office, on roturning, unlocked tho front door and was immediately attacked. A towel waa placed over her head, preventing her seeing, and a handkerchief gagged her mouth. Her hands wore then tied together, and tho intruder left. Nothing was missing, and a cashbox on tho table was untouched. Tho girl struggled to next door arid gave an alarm. After release sho fainted, but shortly afterwards recovered. Sue was not otherwise interfered with, and the motive of the assault is a mystery.
