SUCCESSFUL OPERATIONS
ENEMY'S MAIN FORCES
SEPARATED
(Rec. November 11, 5.5 p.m.) London, November 9. Router's special correspondent, telegraphing from Mahunga on November >8, reports that the enemy has beon driven out of v.he Mkumba and Makwera positions in the Lindi area,' after most stubborn fighting.. The enemy, after a determined attempt to surround one of our columns, wero repulsed, and retired at night-time. Our losses were not severe, but the enmy'a were most heavy. Our occupation of Liwali and the control of thelioad east and westward practically cuts the communications l>etwcen the two main enomy forces. His northern forces are reheating south-west from Mahenge, while tho southerners aro operating from fifty to seventy miles south' and west of Lindi. We accounted for 290 white and BG2 black enemy hoops during October.—Router.
